Reviewing progress made in reducing poverty

Implementation

This strategy featured in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.

In the follow-up to the implementation of Agenda 21, review of progress made in eradicating poverty should be given high priority.

Claim

  1. The test of progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have little. (Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1937).
