Evaluating poverty reduction programmes

  • Assessing anti-poverty programmes

Implementation

This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.

Evaluation of focused programmes and activities would be enhanced by improved collection by governments of information on target groups and target areas. Evaluation of such programmes should be gender-specific, since women are a particularly disadvantaged group.
