Playfully named Ask the Fox, this site is basically a lab or sandbox for experimental interaction with the data from and related to the Encyclopedia of World Problems and Human Potential.

The very idea of a sandbox for the Encyclopedia is foxy, and the reason for that has to do with divination — if you can guess why, let us know!

The content of this site is meant to flourish and fail in unexpected patterns like any other experimental work.

The main public presentation, maintained by the UIA, can always be found at encyclopedia.uia.org.

Encyclopedia of World Problems and Human Potential was initiated in 1972 following a collaboration between two international non-profits, the Union of International Associations (UIA) and Mankind 2000. It is the result of an ambitious effort to collect and present information on the problems humanity is confronted with, as well as the challenges such problems pose to societies' values, development strategies and concept formation.

The Encyclopedia contains 99314 entries in 6 databases:

  • World problems: 56960
  • Global strategies: 32396
  • Human values: 3252
  • Human development: 4806
  • Metaphors and patterns: 1268
  • Integrative concepts: 632
