Description

Solidarity is a union of interests, purposes, or sympathies among members of a group. The concept of solidarity as a fellowship of responsibilities and interests is a value recognized for centuries in relations between individuals and between members of the same family or community. It has been extended to include nations and groups of peoples, and embodied in various schemes that are now under threat, such as social security and provision for retirement.
