Understanding victimization

Claim

  1. Both tears and sweat are salty, but they render a different result. Tears will get you sympathy; sweat will get you change. (Jesse Jackson).

  2. The question is: How to cease to be victims without becoming executioners? (Albert Camus).

Counter claim

  1. The alternative to a world where something can happen to any person is one in which you are on your own. So, if its any comfort next time you are the person on the pavement that gets splashed as the passing bus drives through a puddle, the plus side to asking yourself "Why me?" is that you are not on your own in the world. The real challenge for us all is to try to ensure nobody ever has this as their sole consolation.
