Implementation

The Municipal Development Programme for Sub-Saharan Africa is a multi-funded facility committed to an alternative model of development assistance dedicated to building institutional effectiveness in local government institutions in Sub-Saharan Africa. It makes available to African institutions resources and advice to conduct activities in: policy studies and policy advocacy, including investigation of key decentralization issues and local municipal governance; human resource development activities, including support for training institutions and formulation of training strategies; support to municipalities, including fostering of new approaches to development planning and effective service delivery; strengthening of local authority associations.
