Piloting environmental health projects

  • Learning by doing in environment and health

Description

Piloting environment and health projects involves intersectoral and cross disciplinary projects; transboundary cooperation projects between governments and government agencies; inter governmental cooperation projects between different ministries; new cooperation projects between public and private sector, and most importantly, community based health and environment projects representing the full implementation of international imperatives for environmental health.

Because of scope of environment and health actions necessary to address present and future environmental health conditions, piloting is required to test out new combinations of collective action and to test and develop new strategies for international, national and local implementation.

Implementation

Possible topics for pilot projects could be the impact on health of infrastructure planning in urban or rural areas, with attention to water supply, housing and transportation. Participation in pilot projects involving several countries around a common or transboundary, environmental health issue.
