Developing community-based environmental information systems

Description

"Community-based Environment Information Systems (CEMIS)", promoted by the United Nations Centre for Human Settlements (Habitat) is based on the central principle that community self-determination and co-management are key requisites for sustained human settlements development. CEMIS strives to build equal partnerships between communities, local governments and other stakeholders in providing and managing environmental infrastructure, such as water, sanitation, drainage and waste management.
