Changing consciousness

Claim

  1. The current world crisis is constantly sustained and exacerbated by a basic and pervasive disharmony between the intellect and emotions that has been increasing since early times. This disharmony is mirrored in personal relationships, in relationships between governments, and in the relationship of people to nature. To a great extent, because of this disharmony, many feel a sense of loss, of missing something, in spite of great technological gains, which should have enriched rather than impoverishing. The ultimate source of the multitude of problems lies in thought itself, the very thing of which civilization is most proud. Attention to this dimension could give rise to a fundamental change of consciousness that would give rise to a more harmonious way of life.
