Onlooker consciousness

This consciousness is based on an extreme separation between subject and object, consciousness and the world. This separation is a consequence of over-reliance on the intellectual mind and the analytical mode of consciousness with which it is associated. Thinking is equated with subjective experience which is identified with consciousness. Consciousness thus has the role of an onlooker to a world which is outside itself. The experiencer has the impression of being separate and independent from the world and detached from nature. The world may thus be treated as an object that can be operated on, manipulated and organized.
