Entrainment

A process in both the physical and the organic world typified by the manner in which a group of fireflies have a tendency towards blinking in unison. In this sense one nervous system drives another, or two drive each other, to the highest frequency of any oscillatory behaviour which they are both exhibiting. This tendency makes interactional synchrony possible.
