The U.S. Government has moved to exert greater control over what intelligence the Pentagon intelligence agencies and the CIA collect. A directive establishes a committee to review regularly whether the government's intelligence objectives are being met and if they ought to be changed.
The Pentagon's intelligence operations have never been subject to a major congressional investigation.
