Supporting symbol creating activities

In the village of Tsumago, Japan, one representative from every family must clean the roads in front of their house almost at the same time every day. This rule is because the action provides a symbol. It is claimed that if everybody did not cooperate the project, called 'Conservation of Historical Environment in Tsumago', would be destroyed.
