To conduct all activities of the business enterprise in a manner which integrates the protection of human health and the natural environment with the need for economic and social growth. To assure environmental, health and safety performance, emergency preparedness, and contributions to public policy, and to cooperate with others to address historic environmental mining practices. To promote the transfer of sound technology and management methods to all segments of the mining industry. To fully integrate environmental, health, and safety considerations in the feasibility decision-making, planning, design, construction, operation, and closure of each operation. To review environmental, health, and safety performance and identify and implement methods for improvement. To foster open and meaningful dialogue with all stakeholders on concerns about wastes, potential hazards, and environmental, health, and safety impacts of the business enterprise.
