Networking fair trade import companies
- Coordinating fair trading business sector
Description
Networking fair trade import companies involves establishing and strengthening connections among businesses committed to ethical sourcing and equitable trading practices. This strategy facilitates information exchange, collaborative marketing, and joint advocacy, enabling companies to overcome market access barriers, ensure supply chain transparency, and increase consumer trust. By fostering cooperation, it remedies issues such as exploitation of producers, lack of market visibility, and fragmented efforts, ultimately supporting sustainable livelihoods and fairer global trade systems.
Implementation
The European Fair Trade Association aims to: (a) improve and coordinate cooperation among alternative trading organizations (ATOs) in European countries which promote fair trade with the third world, promoting their interests and providing services; (b) coordinate services offered to producer groups in developing countries; (c) coordinate marketing and promotional activities on a national and European level; and (d) locate Third World partners which assist producers to achieve a better standard of living. It does this through joint product design and development; joint initiatives, such as coordinated trips to the third world; project development assistance programme; and coordinated activities in Europe, such as trading agreements, coordinated study and research.
