Mobilizing public support for environmental issues

The environmental degradation problem will always require scientific information to enable mobilization. In the case of depletion of the ozone layer, medical experts demonstrated the problem scientifically, and people understood that it was manifested in the form of higher skin cancer rates. Once established scientifically, a country can muster the force domestically and internationally to negotiate a protocol. It can begin to move forward through a process which then agrees to correct the problem as quickly as possible.
