Implementation

An inquest into the death of a suspected IRA terrorist shot during a police raid has returned a verdict of lawful killing. (18 February, 2000) Diarmuid O'Neill, 27, died when police raided a hotel in Hammersmith, west London, in September 1996. A jury at Kingston upon Thames Crown Court took four hours to return its verdict after hearing how O'Neill was killed when armed police burst into the room where he was staying with two other suspected terrorists.
