Inventing a global ecology

Claim

  1. For industrialized society to reverse the devastating cycle it has imposed on the planet, it will have to invent an ecology powerful enough to offset deforestation, soil erosion, species extinction and pollution. Elements of this are evident in sustainable practices that can harmonize with growth of trade and increased consumption, and in a global environmental ethic that is not subverted by economically powerful institutions.
