Honorary office-holder

Holds an office in a group, an organization or a university which may or may not require active involvement in the life of that body. Where it does, both the person and the group derive benefit from the work done, as in the case of the honorary secretary of some association. Where it does not, the group is honoured by the eminence of the person and the achievements of the person are honoured through the nature of the office.
