Description

Ensuring implementation of labour laws involves establishing effective monitoring, enforcement, and compliance mechanisms to protect workers’ rights and improve working conditions. This strategy includes regular workplace inspections, accessible reporting systems for violations, and prompt legal action against non-compliance. It aims to remedy issues such as wage theft, unsafe environments, and exploitation by holding employers accountable, strengthening institutional capacity, and promoting awareness among workers and employers to ensure fair and lawful treatment in the workplace.

Implementation

ILO assists governments: to ensure the implementation and enforcement of labour laws by strengthening labour inspectorates; to identify gaps in such laws and propose remedial measures; to advise employers and workers on compliance with relevant laws and regulations; to associate employers and workers and their organizations with the efforts of labour inspection services; to extend the coverage of labour inspection; to strengthen bodies concerned with the prevention of occupation accidents and diseases.
