Ensuring effective firearms control
Context
Global efforts to prevent crime, promote public health and establish peace must include effective regulation of firearms. Problems with firearms vary by region and country. For example, in some areas, conflict is a priority. In others, crime is the most compelling problem. In others injury prevention is the primary concern. In some contexts, conflict and crime are inseparable. Even within countries there are significant differences according to region, gender, age and other factors which, in turn, affect the shape of the appropriate solutions.
