Ensuring access to regional scientific and technological information networks

Implementation

This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities. Agenda 21 recommends developing and expanding national scientific and technological databases, processing data in unified formats and systems and allowing full and open access to the depository libraries of regional scientific and technological information networks. It further recommends promoting submission of scientific and technological information and databases to global or regional data centres and network systems.
