Conscientious objector

Opposes bearing arms and objects to any military training leading to the use of weapons. By taking such exemplary action in opposition to majority views (and often at considerable personal risk) the significance of certain religious, philosophical or political beliefs is reinforced. May be usefully distinguished from the negative perception of the role associated with the term draft dodger.
