Nature

As women age, the muscles that support pelvic structures loosen and the uterus, bladder or other tissues may begin to sag. Non-surgical remedies are a pessary that supports the sagging structure, used either alone or with oestrogen cream and pelvic exercises.

Incidence

About 15% of hysterectomies are done to rectify uterovaginal prolapse.
