Threatened species of Rodentia

There are 34 species of rodents identified as being already extinct, endangered, or rare; the reasons include habitat destruction or alteration, competition with other species, hunting, indirect interference by man (such as the construction of suburban housing developments), and deliberate elimination campaigns (Utah prairie dog, in the USA).
