Threatened species of Megaptera novaeangliae

  • Threatened species of Humpback whale

Nature

Humpback whales feed and breed near coasts, making them vulnerable to human disturbance.

Incidence

The population of humpback whales is thought to have stood at 150,000 before the onset of commercial whaling. Today, perhaps 20,000 remain. Some populations are showing signs of recovery.
