Lack of business opposition to the arms race

The business of business is to make money, which it does exceptionally well in the armaments and defence industries. Their hypocrisy is to be anti-war but 'pro-combat readiness'.

Most of commerce and industry has nothing to do with defence. Businessmen remember war-time conditions and recognize that prosperity exists only during peace-time. There are numbers of leading international businessmen's groups who oppose the arms race, and national and local business alliances involved in political action to support disarmament, nuclear-free zones, and peaceful, international negotiation.
