Nature

Hyperthyroid myopathy (HYPTM) has its onset during childhood to adulthood. There is weakness of upper arm and upper leg muscles, with some muscle wasting of the shoulders and hips. The disease may also affect the muscles controlling eye movement. Its severity depends upon the success in treating the underlying thyroid condition.
