Health hazards of cassava
Nature
For millions of people in developing countries, cassava is a staple food. Though hardy and easy to grow, it has little nutritional value and is a toxic hazard for men and animals alike. Recent studies suggest that it can be a key factor in the aetiology of goitre in areas where there is a deficiency of iodine in the people's diet.
