The problem’s scope became clearer through comparative studies and global health reports, notably the World Health Organization’s 2002 World Report on Violence and Health, which highlighted the pervasive impact of firearms on mortality, public safety, and social stability worldwide.

Suicides represent 60% of gun-related deaths. In 2017 in the USA, of the 39,000 gun-related deaths: 23,000 were suicides; 14,000 were homocides 13,000 were accidental shootings or war; 71 were mass shootings.

The sheer scale of injury, death, and fear caused by firearms is unacceptable in any civilized society. Ignoring this epidemic is a moral failure. Gun-related violence is vastly exaggerated and does not warrant the intense focus it receives.
