Governmental bias in statistics

In the USA in 1991, the government refused to correct errors in the 1990 census through which 5.3 million people were overlooked. Because such official statistics are used to apportion federal funding, this refusal cost large cities and states millions of dollars and could affect the makeup of political districts throughout the country.
