Nature

Injuries to the baby and the mother during birth commonly arise from abnormalities of the mother's pelvic bones, organs or tissues or from malposition of the foetus. The baby's organs most susceptible to injury include: the brain, spinal cord, bones and nerves. Breathing may also initially be difficult or absent.
