Atrophic gastritis

  • Type A gastritis
  • Type B gastritis

Nature

Atrophic gastritis is a chronic condition that causes inflammation of the stomach lining over a long time. Either a bacterial infection or an autoimmune condition is responsible. Chronic inflammation over a long time leads to a loss of gastric glandular cells and their eventual replacement by intestinal and fibrous tissues.
