Alienating waiting environments

Nature

Rarely are environments where people wait for buses, trains, or other forms of public transport, made comfortable and appealing, despite the amount of time that people have to spend in them. Bus stops and waiting rooms, are often alienating environments. The bus shelter, if there is one, is often badly designed and lets in wind, snow, or rain; it is covered in graffiti. Some waiting areas are ill-lit or isolated and encourage crime. Due to this many people are apprehensive while using them and may experience repeated stress or fear if not actual harm.
