Abusive claims of exception

The UN World Conference on Human Rights (Vienna, 1993) at which attempts were made to reach consensus on the universality of human rights was marred by claims of exception from Asian countries contending that standards of justice should be tempered by regional peculiarities and various historical, cultural and religious backgrounds.

The US is the only country in the world that does not accept its military personnel being judged by a foreign court.
