Visual display unit

A cathode-ray-tube is the chief element in the v.d.u. computer terminal display device. The v.d.u. may be file-interactive or merely interrogative with its keyboard or light pen. The fully interactive v.d.u. may also be described as an intelligent terminal or computer individual work-station or personal computer, and as such it is the key element in the 'office of the future' and work-at-home computer linkages. Hours in front of the v.d.u. can cause eye-strain and headaches and in some applications such as fast-moving stock-exchange prices, can cause stress.
