Team genius role

An affinity-role played by one or more members of a small group or team. Typically, individualistic serious-minded, yet unpredictable and unorthodox. One who contributes new ideas, concepts and strategies, and who looks for alternative approaches that the group might take in regard to the major issues.[Advantages]

Imagination, intellect, knowledge, can provide the creative input that will be the grist of the meeting; in this sense providing the raw material for group discussion, decision making and new strategies.

[Disadvantages]

"Up in the clouds" often oblivious to practical details, and prone to ignore procedure and structural guidelines. If there are two or more playing this role in one group, the group's creativity is reduced to the same level as a group with no one playing this role. Ideas and creativity on their own are not effective and require the good processing and implementation skills of others in the team.
