Synoptic weather data coding

A data and observation recording system is required to handle the many facets of meterological and terrestrial information that comprise local, national, and regional weather. The weather data for a particular station, for example, at a particular time, may be recorded with alpha-numeric input and without regard to graphic elements such as symbols or maps with terrestrial features. Weather recorded may be for both surface and upper-air conditions. By treating data in quantifiable terms as much as possible, that is in addition to measurements using grades for qualitative aspects, algebraic treatment is possible and combined indices can be produced, ranging from simple temperature-humidity and wind-chill factor relationships to complex assessments of pollen and pollution counts and other air quality features.
