Synopsis

A synopsis is a condensed abridgment of a written work, such as the basic plot of a novel or the main points of a periodical article. It contains and presents the essence of the full writing. Its preparation is useful in presenting proposals for staging or filming new works. This usage, however, allows for considerable freedom to introduce, outside of the original agreement, whatever elements are wished by the director or writer and which could jeopardize the undertaking.
