Signs of human presence

Related signs and symbols of human presence include footprints, handprints, bite marks, finger marks, and bodily impressions. Other representations of human presence employ the symbols of man-made objects, particularly various types of dwellings, stone rings and other stone formations, and fire sites.

Footprints symbolize the path to take, or that someone has gone before. In the East the symbol that is called, Buddha's Footprint, contains, in the arch, the Wheel of the Law, and under the heel, the mystic Lotus. In Sri Lanka, Adam's footprint was located on a mountain. A full hand-print signifies attention and the number five. Finger marks indicate possession. Circular objects may represent the human presence as expressed by the primitive arrangement of habitations or of ring-formed councils.
