Saga

Sagas are long prose narratives written in medieval Iceland and Norway which were concerned principally with Kings and heroes, notable families, and recent historical events. There are incidental mythical matters and sagas based on translations of foreign biographical and other matter. Modern multi-part novels following the fortunes of a single family or region over a period of generations have also been termed sagas and is now considered to be an over-exploited genre.
