Sacrifice

In the religious sense, a sacrifice is a rite in which an object or a living being is offered to a divinity, the purpose being to establish or restore a right relationship between man and the divinity. It has always been an aspect of worship and is a phenomenon related to the sacred order. Sacrifice arises partly out of superstitious dread and partly out of cathartic needs that individuals and groups of people feel.
