Prospectus

Generally speaking, a prospectus is the outline of a plan submitted for approval. More specifically, it is an advertisement by a publisher to solicit orders for a recent or forthcoming publication. Such advertisements are often bound into the backs of paperbound books and the works represented may have little relationship to the book that carries them. They tend to be an annoyance to readers in these circumstances.
