Prescription

A prescription consists of written instructions or directions, from a physician to a pharmacy for the preparation and issuance of a medicine. A medical prescription is a legal document, since it makes it possible to verify whether a medicine has been prepared correctly. In law, it refers to a custom continued until it becomes a right or has acquired the force of law. Medical prescriptions written in abbreviated Latin and calling for brand-name expensive preparations may be a device for preventing the public to have more understanding and control over their helath in regard to medications, and to have the benefit of considerable cost-savings on generic name medicines.
