Picture storybook

A picture storybook is a children's book consisting of a narrative and illustrations that are synchronized with the text. The text itself generally requires a reading ability level of at least third grade. Some picture story books are over-illustrated thus acting to discourage reading and contributing to poor reading skills. They incline children and adolescents to exist on a reading fare made up of comic books and strips, supplemented by the visual and audible communications of the television.
