A paperback or softcover is a book issued without board covers. Many paperbacks are moderately priced. Most famous literary works are issued in paperback editions, thus enabling the vast majority of literate people to acquire these works. Paperbacks have helped to make reading a more democratic occupation. The cheap cost of paperbacks has allowed for a flood of literature, among whose categories are trash, pornography, cult, religious and self-help tracts and other junk reading.
