Newspaper

A serial publication, normally produced on low-grade pulp paper called newsprint. Newspapers are found wherever there is a human community, from the one newspaper town or area, to the multi-newspaper town or area, to the multi-newspaper great cities. Newspapers differ enormously in quality. Some are merely vehicles for commercial advertising. Some, on the other hand are intent on radical social reform. In between are the bulk of newspapers which try to be both informative and entertaining for their readership. Newspaper chains have replaced many of the independently owned publications in several countries. Such chains, and media conglomerates which **** broadcasting stations as well, endanger the opportunities for objective and independent reporting and editorializing to be seen or heard.
