Mythical aerial beings

Symbolic non-human beings represented to live in the atmosphere around us or in the air above include such things as fairies, the personified winds, and various spirits.

Some of these symbols represent phenomena of nature on the one hand. Others stand in close connection with humanity. For example, they may symbolize service or pastoral innocence. Some spirits of the air are also represented as the embodiment of the invisible moral influences, for good and for evil that humanity throws off.
