Mystery play

Middle Ages' religious theatre performed out of doors, dealing with Biblical themes from the Old and New Testaments. non-Christian Mystery plays were known in Iran in the tenth century and in the Hellenistic world, down to about the fifth century, in the form of dramatic enactments before initiates in the Mystery cults.
