Lyric literatue

Expression of the writers' subjective reaction to the outer and inner worlds. Thus the author's associative mental and emotional phenomena may be the principle content or the principle import of the work. That the form be poetic is virtually dictated by these considerations, although lyric prose is also well-recognized. Lyricism has its counterpart in expressionism, and in turn, abstract expressionism in the visual arts, converted to its literary equivalent, is the ultimate extension of subjective lyricism. Such literary outpourings may lack comprehensibility, much like abstract music, but their lyricism may be inferred, at least, from the characteristics of their delivery, such as vehemence and volume or pregnant pauses and lyrical silence.
